References

  • Bikeline: Alpe Adria Radweg (in German), Verlag Esterbauer, ISBN 978-3-7111-0052-8. This is the definitive reference work covering the Alpe-Adria bike trail.

  • Istrien Pula Map, 1:100,000, freytag & berndt, ISBN 978-3-7079-0764-3. A good map of the Istrian peninsula with a suitable scale for cycling. It tends to pack in more items of interest than there is room for, making it rather difficult to use.

  • An Alpe-Adria Web Page (in German)

  • A Parenzana Web Page (in German). It's possible that this page dates from 2012. It has lots of nice photos, and the description agrees with our experience. Maybe it's my weak German, but I can only understand the description now that I have completed the tour. The quality of the trail is much better than a lot of the photos indicate, especially towards the end of the trail near Porec.

  • Another Parenzana Web Page. This deals exclusively with the Croatian Section. It has a good map, but the description is rather hard to follow. It's easier to follow the signs, once you have found the start of the trail near the Slovenian/Croatian border.

  • And yet another Parenzana Web Page. This gives a lot of history about the track and some useful links to various services. It doesn't have Sergio's Trattatoria in Buje, though.
